Ingredients:
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 2 teaspoons baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon (optional)
- 3/4 cup milk
- 2 large eggs
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 2 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted
- Oil for frying
Instructions:
- In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, baking powder, salt, and cinnamon (if using).
- In another mixing bowl, whisk together the milk, eggs, vanilla extract, and melted butter until well combined.
- Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and stir until just combined. The dough should be sticky but not too wet. If it’s too dry, add a bit more milk; if it’s too wet, add a bit more flour.
- Turn the dough out onto a lightly floured surface and knead for about 1-2 minutes until it comes together into a smooth ball.
- Roll out the dough to a thickness of about 1/2 inch and use a donut cutter or two differently sized round cookie cutters to cut out donut shapes.
